I'd like to change the way it handles images a little bit. I'm going to have it save the full size image and show it to you when you click on the image, but I'd like chage it a little more too.

If you upload an image without any text in the body of the message it should always make the image the full width of the text.

If you put text in the body of the message should you have the option of leaving the image large, or is that silly? If the image is large should it go?

Ni How! (你好 or hello)

sorry i've been MIA...but I'm in China. Seriously. Work sent me over just about 2 weeks ago to work in the factories with the product developers. I get to see my shoes being made. It's kinda cool.

life over here is so bizarre. to sum it up quickly, watch Lost In Translation, it's kinda like that, minus the whole romance thing. the part of china I am is is called Dongguan. It is mainly an industrial city 2 hours from Hong Kong. the city has been spruced up for the government, which has many buildings here. it's such an odd combination of rapid development and poverty.

I traveled over here with 5 of my coworkers. At this part of the trip we are all getting a bit antsy to get home. Tomorrow we are spending the night in Honk Kong, which I hear is stunning. Good drinks and good food, so I'm psyched. Then we fly home friday morning. So I don't know if i'll be around for your bash Sarah. Jet lag will probably have me flat on my ass Saturday. By the way, I am exactly half way around the world from all you east coasters, so you are all probably just drinking you moring cup of joe, while I'm bout to snuggle up in my bed.

i'll have tons of stories and photos when I get back, so I'll try to make it Saturday. Untill then, here's a sweet pic of chicken transportation, which is very common here.

MySpace Just Got Creepier

Go to your inbox then click on sent messages. You can see what other people did with those messages. Mine only goes back to Feb. 26, I don't know if the others timed out or got deleted. Someone send me a MySpace message because I want to know what happens when you delete a message from your mailbox and I want to know what happens when the sender deletes the message from their sent messages.

Post-Modem Updates

Drag the bar between posts then shake the mouse. Shaking below your starting point moves it down (even faster when lower) and shaking it above the starting point moves it up. I'm very curoius how well this will work.

Clicking the down arrow will expand the box, the up arrow collapses it.

There's still a little more that has to be done, adding an entry needs to be updated, with more image types than jpeg.

The only bugs I know of:
  • If you add a comment without a name you will lose the text of your comment.
  • If you click on a down arrow for an entry that is less tahn one screen from the bottom your window will get stuck because it can't scroll down to finish the animation. The workaround is to click the up/down arrow for the top entry, which will move your screen up and let it finish the animation.

Let me know if you find any more bugs.

You can't go to page 2, there's no link.

put any bugs you find in this thread. Explain how it can be reporduced if you can.
-Stu on Sunday, March 4, 2007 11:23 pm

the search box doesn't work

-Stu on Monday, March 5, 2007 12:47 am

It's getting annoying... I'm going to change the bar between posts back to a simple drag

Before I was having trouble having it scroll the window down when you hit the bottom of the screen. It would scroll, but the cursor would get away from the bar, so it didn't feel solid. I'll figure it out tomorrow or Wednesday.
-Stu on Monday, March 5, 2007 3:36 pm

Ok, now for some constructive criticism...

...you knew this was coming. I know this one isn't quite tweeked yet, but the old one was a easier to understand. with this format i find myself reading the comments before the post. The more condensed format and gradual evolution of the old one was really good. the thing is, what to do with leftover space. how about a spot for favorite comments?
-Conte on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 11:00 am

I'm going to work on it more this weekend.

I'm going to make the comment text a little bit lighter, put a handle in the middle of the brown bar and move the arrows to the right side of the bar. I'm also going to change it so the bar stays with the mouse instead of the complicated way it works now.

Any more suggestions?
-Stu on Wednesday, March 7, 2007 4:19 pm

Scroll bar or no scroll bar?

You'll be my hero if you can figure out why it doesn't fade the comment box in if there are no comments.

an idea

Does anyone use the list of blogs on the front page? I'm thinking about changing that to show the most recent comments. What do you think?

Was it really worth the trouble?

You can get feedback from your database errors in Esperanto. This is only the database error messges, you'd have to translate the rest of whatever you need it for yourself.

My friend sent me this one

Both those cars are lucky enough to be kept inside.

Snow sucks. I'm glad I don't have to deal with it in quantity anymore. I hate snow.

I do miss giving my car a mohawk.

Digging a hole to China

I guess it was just a matter of time but I’m headed for China! This Sat 13th I will be heading over for what promises to be an amazing experience. I will be arriving In Hong Kong on sat then head over to the manufacturing facility in Shenzhen. It is here that I will be spending the better half of two weeks over seeing the tooling and production of a power chair I recently designed. As well as a few other projects. I will be accompanied by an engineer and project coordinator that also worked on the development of the unit. Word has it I’m in for some eye-opening experiences and drunken nights. Second to Abby, I can’t wait to have the JUNKO experience, and hope to hell I don’t screw anything up! ”Shit Ted you didn’t teach us Chinese“! I will keep you all posted, this could get interesting.

-anthony on Saturday, January 13, 2007 11:39 am

yeah, dude

sweet deal. take pictures. I just wish I was there to hear all the amazing T quotes that are sure to occur. ...as for the 14 hour plane ride, I recommend buying a bottle of goose, the big one, at the duty-free shop and nursing that thing all the way to the Orient. good luck and safe trip!
-Conte on Saturday, January 13, 2007 2:04 pm

been there done that.

good luck man. you're gonna learn so much. just remember don't eat any street-meat. bottled water only. make sure you have every over the counter medicine possible. and take tons of pictures. oh and no need for the goose, they keep your glass very full on the plane. Shenzhen is a big city and it has alot of great shopping. you'll enjoy it. have a safe trip!

Does anyone want to make a video game?

Some friends and I are making a sidescroller (can also be a diagonal scroller) and we need some help. It doesn't pay, but you get your name on a REAL computer program (the kind you double click and it opens, I haven't even made one of those). Working on it will be a lot easier than you'd think, we just need items and the things that they do.

Line Rider Infinite Loop

The first loop regulates his speed, the second one is for show. The return line has a short accelerating line right before it levels off to slow him down, it ends in exactly the right spot for him to stop exactly where he started. It's usually about 1/8 of an inch off in either direction, but the first loop corrects the problem. He's been going for a couple hours.

He lasted several hours, but he missed the second loop and ended up upside down but still in one piece.
